Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Monday that the three remaining Pakistani crew members of the hijacked oil tanker MT Honour 25 are expected to return home on Wednesday.
Imran Ali, Muhammad Yasin and Syed Husain Yousuf have been rescued and flown to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, accompanied by officials from the Pakistan Embassy in Djibouti.
They are expected to take the first available Ethiopian Airlines flight to Karachi on October 7.
MT Honour 25, carrying 19 crew members including 10 Pakistanis, was hijacked by Somali pirates in April. Puntland maritime forces recovered the vessel on September 29, with 21 suspected pirates reportedly arrested.
Three Pakistani sailors — Rafiullah Khan, Syed Kashif Umer and Mahmood Ahmed Ansari — were killed during the recovery operation, while four others were injured and returned to Pakistan on Sunday along with the victims’ remains.
Dar thanked Somalia and the European Union Naval Force Operation Atalanta for their assistance in securing the crew’s release.
