ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Army spokesperson and Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry questioned activists and leader of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), amid growing accusations of foreign interference in Balochistan’s security situation.

In a recent presser, Director General of Army media wing accused BYC of acting against national interests and that group’s activities may align with the agendas of hostile foreign agencies, particularly India’s intelligence services.

Media must unmask Baloch Yakjehti Committee and its leadership,” Chaudhry said, adding that group is not representing the true voice of Balochistan but is instead echoing narratives that serve the interests of Pakistan’s enemies.”

Dr. Mahrang Baloch has emerged in recent years as a dissent voice advocating for rights of Baloch people, calling attention to enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and lack of development in region. BYC organized protests, press conferences, and social media campaigns to amplify concerns over the treatment of Baloch students and civilians.

Supporters view Dr. Mahrang as courageous activist standing against institutional injustices. However, critics within the government allege that the BYC’s narrative is being weaponized to undermine national security and discredit the armed forces.

State already taken measures to limit their influence, ISPR chief said, claiming that the group’s activities are part of a larger campaign supported by external actors, especially India.

The criticism of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and BYC comes in the wake of deadly school bus attack in Khuzdar, which the state has attributed to Indian-backed terrorist networks. Authorities allege that groups like the BLA are receiving ideological and logistical support from across the border, and accuse activists of either knowingly or unknowingly amplifying their agenda.

The military claimed that social media accounts tied to Indian intelligence were promoting pro-BLA content ahead of recent attacks, suggesting a coordinated campaign to destabilize the region.

In this environment, the role of activists like Dr. Baloch is being hotly debated—hailed by some as defenders of human rights, condemned by others as dangerously aligned with anti-state elements.

‘India Playing with Fire, pushing region toward Catastrophic Destruction,’ warns DG ISPR
