LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 132 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different areas of Lahore on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 22 buildings each in Allama Iqbal Town and on Johar Town’s Khayaban-e-Firdousi, 39 in Gulberg and Faisal Town, and 49 in Shadman, Shah Jamal, New Muslim Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi and on Canal Bank Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Bundu Khan Sweets & Bakers, Chughtai Lab, Mughal Lab, Dar-e-Arqam Schools, Punjab Grammar School, Pak Vision Colleges, a private hospital, food outlets, a salon, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to these buildings’ owners before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in LDA-controlled areas.
