QUETTA – A massive disruption hit parts of Balochistan after a powerful blast damaged an 18-inch main gas pipeline in the Bolan area, leaving several cities and towns without normal supplies.
The explosion occurred at KMP-246 Valve Assembly, located in the Bolan River Bed near Gorkut. Huge flames were reportedly visible from a considerable distance following the blast.
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the incident has forced the suspension of gas supplies to Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin and Ziarat, while some parts of Quetta may also experience low gas pressure.
The affected valve assembly is situated around 700–800 metres from the main Quetta-Sibi Road, making the location accessible only after the necessary security arrangements are completed.
SSGC said repair work has yet to begin as security clearance for the site is still awaited. The company’s repair teams are on standby and will be dispatched once clearance is granted. The gas utility said its management is closely monitoring the situation and efforts will be made to restore supplies at the earliest possible opportunity.
The disruption has added to concerns for consumers across the affected areas, with SSGC expressing regret over the inconvenience caused by the incident.
