SURAB – A premature Vehicle-Borne blast in Surab, Balochistan, killed eight militants, while a security operation eliminated 10 more. The explosions also claimed the lives of three civilians, as security forces and police continued a joint clearance operation to secure the area, ISPR said Wednesday.
The explosion was followed by blast of additional explosives stored at the site, reportedly killing three civilians in the surrounding area and adding to the devastation caused by the blast. Security forces and the Balochistan Police swiftly reached the scene and launched a joint clearance operation aimed at securing the area, tracking fleeing militants and identifying their facilitators.
The operation soon turned into a wider pursuit. Security personnel reportedly detected the movement of militants attempting to escape the area and engaged them, resulting in the deaths of another 10 militants. With the latest clashes, the reported militant death toll has risen to 18 in the incidents linked to Fitna Al Hindustan.
The operation, however, came at a cost for the security forces, with two soldiers sustaining injuries during the exchange of fire.
Authorities continued sanitization operations in the area, searching for any remaining militants and possible explosive threats. Security personnel are also working to determine the full extent of the network involved and identify those who may have facilitated the militants’ activities.
The developments come amid Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, a framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. Security and law-enforcement agencies have pledged to maintain pressure on what authorities describe as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorist networks.
The operation in Surab remains ongoing, with security forces continuing clearance and search activities to ensure the area is fully secured.
