Bloody Sectarian clashes in Kurram tribal district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to the killing of at least 15 people and serious injuries to over two dozen others du ring the last few days.

Officials say an armed conflict between two religious groups in the Kurram tribal district escalated, claiming seven more lives the other day

Officials reported that ongoing clashes, sparked by a contentious video circulating on social media, have resulted in approximately 15 casualties, despite both sides condemning the video’s content.

The officials disclosed that five individuals lost their lives in clashes in the Boshara area, while two others were killed in KharKalay and BaleechKhel alone on Friday. Over the four days of conflict, at least 23 people, including 10 on Friday, sustained injuries in the region.

In the wake of the crisis and high tension in the region, cellular networks remain suspended, and all routes in and out of the district are closed for traffic. Locals are stranded, and individuals from other parts of the country are unable to leave the area.

A state of emergency has been declared in all district hospitals, according to DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Qaisar Abbas. Eight injured individuals are still receiving treatment, while others have been discharged, the medics in the hospitals said.

The district administration of the Kurram is striving to effect truce between the warring groups as the locals have been demanding of the government to adopt solid measures to ensure peace in the region.
