In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has thanked the people for observing complete strike, today, against the Indian aggression, wanton arrests, killing of youth and attack on the Muslim majority status of the territory and said that the ongoing freedom struggle would continue till it reached its logical conclusion.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar appealed to the masses to observe complete strike and Black Day on August 5 to show their full strength and resistance against the Indian oppression and aggression. He rejected the Indian propaganda and said that the pro-freedom parties were moving unitedly to achieve their goal and were committed not to bow down before India under any circumstances.
The APHC once again appealed to the freedom-loving people not to sell their land to non-locals under any circumstances and to bravely fight the military pressure.
The spokesman said that after the repeal of special status of occupied Kashmir on 5th August, last year, the Modi government was attempting to change the demographic composition of occupied Kashmir through constitutional onslaughts. He said that under the new domicile law, black laws and military rule, thirty-two thousand domicile certificates had been given to non-Kashmiris since May, this year. He added that India wanted to turn Muslim majority of occupied Kashmir into a minority by settling non-Kashmiris in the territory.
The spokesman said that the land of the people of Kashmir was being snatched through military force by the occupation authorities.
He said that in the first phase, more than 200,000 houses were being constructed at various places for non-Kashmiri residents and Indian troops which was violation of the United Nations resolutions and the international law. He termed it as Israeli-style fascism and said that the people of the territory would continue their peaceful struggle to safeguard the Muslim identity of Kashmir and for just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The spokesman said that Jammu and Kashmir was an internationally-recognised disputed territory.
India has turned it into a military colony and the Indian government has issued Kashmir certificates to non-Kashmiris, which is a violation of international law, he added.
The spokesman paid rich tributes to determination and steadfastness of illegally detained Kashmiris including resistance leaders Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai, Aasiya Andrabi, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Pir Saifullah, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayyum, Naeem Ahmed Khan, Ameer Hamza Shah, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sufi, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veri, Maulana Sarjan Barkati, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayyaz, Advocate Zahid Ali and hundreds of youth, journalists and civil society members.
The spokesman called upon the world leaders and international human rights organizations to use their influence for the immediate release of the all illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails of occupied Kashmir and India.—KMS
