AIOU’s newly-established three Centres of Excellence go operational

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has established 3 centres of excellence namely, Center for Seerat-un-Nabi studies, center for Iqbal, Tasawwuf and Muslim thought and Dialogue with History.

These centers will conduct research and seminars on the Lifestyle and teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW), contributions of great leaders of Tehreek-e-Pakistan, benefactors of the nation and other social issues for the awareness of the new generation.

Muhammad Rafiq Tahir, Head of Project Management Unit (PMU) Office for excellence centers, while talking to the media said that there will be a Board of Management to select topics for its Excellence Center. Research on those topics will be presented in a seminar where scholars from all over the world would discuss that particular topic.

He added that it is the responsibility of educational institutions to educate students about the Lifestyle and Uswa e Hasna of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) and the achievements of other notable personalities.

He congratulated VC, AIOU Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum for not only establishing these three centers of excellence but also for appointing eminent scholars of the country as heads of these centers. Director Public Relations, Dr. Bakht Rawan said the idea of Excellence Centers as well as the selection of their heads is commendable and will yield far-reaching results. Along with Director PR, the media team included Assistant Director, Hafiz Hassaan Ahmad and Assistant PRO, Aziz-ur-Rehman.

Distinguished Researcher, Critic and Architect of Pakistani Literature, Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik has been appointed as the head, Center for Iqbal, Tasawwuf and Muslim thought while Professor Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, a renowned religious scholar, has been appointed as the head of the Center of Excellence for Seerat-un-Nabi.
