Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has expressed concerns over the poor sanitation and poor arrangements at the KMC maternity home in Gizri area, he visited on Sunday.
Several staff members were found absent during the visit of Administrator and many rooms were locked and only one patient was present.
Doctors of Karachi Maternity Home failed to give satisfactory answers to questions asked by Shallwani. Negligence and carelessness will not be tolerated in the institutions providing medical services to the citizens, said Administrator, adding hospital staff have to do their duty in any case, negligence in the matter of cleanliness cannot be ignored.
He said these are the basic medical institutions where people come in case of emergency, the staff should feel their responsibility. “KMC is trying to improve hospitals, necessary medicines and equipment will be provided,” said Shallwani
