Dr. Mazhar Iqbal was present at his clinic in the village Phaphra that is located in precincts of Malakwal Police Station. In the meantime, his co-villager Javed Iqbal accompanied by his accomplices, all armed with fire weapons came there and fired on the doctor, and fled away from the scene.
The doctor, in the injured state, was evacuated to THQ Hospital Malakwal where during treatment he succumbed to wounds. The motive behind the murder was told as prolonged litigation between the parties. On the complaint of the son of the victim Shahbaz Mazhar, the police have registered FIR under sention148/149,109/302 PPC and further investigation is in progress.
