The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched SMEConnect, a centralised digital platform designed to simplify access to financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) nationwide.
The portal will serve as a single platform for SMEs to submit financing applications to banks and development finance institutions (DFIs), improving accessibility, efficiency and transparency in the lending process.
The platform will allow applicants to monitor their applications in real time and view the reasons for rejection, where applicable. Its live dashboard will also enable the SBP to track applications received, processed, approved, disbursed and rejected at both individual bank and industry-wide levels.
From November 1, 2026, all SME financing applications will be submitted exclusively through SMEConnect. Applicants approaching bank or DFI branches or visiting their websites to seek financing will be directed to the portal.
The SBP has instructed banks and DFIs to prominently display the SMEConnect link on their websites and ensure their SME teams and field staff are fully familiar with the platform. Staff will also be required to guide and assist applicants in submitting their requests. A tutorial video is available on the portal to help users navigate the application process.
The initiative reflects the SBP’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion, encouraging entrepreneurship and strengthening the SME financing ecosystem to support inclusive economic growth.
