ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity tariffs by Rs2.3673 per unit under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for September 2026 and it will reflect in November 2026 bills.
The authority has issued a notification stating that the actual fuel charges for electricity generation during September stood at Rs9.8268 per unit, compared to the reference fuel cost of Rs7.4596 per unit.
The difference has resulted in a positive Fuel Charges Adjustment of Rs2.3673 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Under the decision, the adjustment will apply to consumers of K-Electric (KE) and ex-WAPDA distribution companies (XWDISCOs) in accordance with the federal government’s policy guidelines for maintaining uniform FCA rates.
NEPRA has directed that the additional charges be reflected in electricity bills issued in November 2026. The adjustment will be calculated based on the number of electricity units consumed by customers during September 2026.
However, the increase will not apply to lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), and prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs.
The authority has clarified that the adjustment will also apply to electricity consumption covered under the Incremental Consumption Package.
In cases where November electricity bills have already been issued before the notification of the decision, the additional charges may be recovered in the following month’s bills.
NEPRA has further directed K-Electric and other distribution companies to ensure compliance with relevant court orders while implementing the fuel cost adjustment.
