WASHINGTON – The US State Department has offered a reward of up to $20 million for provided credible tips about Iran’s nuclear programme amid missile attack on Qesham Island.
In a post on X, the department wrote: “Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community, or the movement of any of the above.”
It comes as reports claimed that at least two missiles struck Iran’s Qeshm Island, while Iranian air-defense systems were activated.
On the other hand, the Iranian Army announced that an MQ-9 drone belonging to American forces was hit and brought down over Qeshm.
According to the announcement, the drone was engaged by advanced air defense systems of the Army Air Defense Force, acting within the framework of the nation’s unified air defense network, IRNA reported.
Meanwhile, Iran is carefully examining proposals put forward by Qatar, including possible measures concerning its nuclear programme, as diplomatic efforts continue to find a way to end the conflict with the United States.
According to a Bloomberg report, any willingness by Tehran to offer concessions on nuclear-related issues could mark a significant development in negotiations aimed at easing tensions and bringing the conflict to an end.
Qatar has been working to facilitate communication between Washington and Tehran, seeking to reduce tensions and encourage a diplomatic resolution. The latest developments come after US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which they discussed diplomatic efforts to resolve the regional crisis.
Bloomberg reported that the recent developments could create an opening for negotiations between the two countries, although neither a final agreement nor any formal commitment by Iran to make concessions has been confirmed.
Trump has repeatedly maintained that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a central objective of the US campaign against the country. Tehran, however, has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful and civilian purposes.
The report suggests that greater transparency from Iran regarding its nuclear activities could provide a basis for progress in future peace negotiations.
