Punjab closes schools for Iqbal Day

Punjab To End Friday School Holiday Soon Under New Changes

LAHORE – The Punjab School Education Department has issued a notification declaring a holiday for all public and private schools across the province on November 9 to mark Iqbal Day.

According to the notification, educational institutions throughout Punjab will remain closed on Monday in observance of the birth anniversary of renowned poet and philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The School Education Department has also directed all District Education Authorities to ensure the implementation of the holiday decision across their respective districts.

Earlier, the federal government had announced a nationwide public holiday on November 9, with government offices, departments and public institutions set to remain closed.

The holiday will be observed in honour of Allama Iqbal, widely known as the Poet of the East, whose literary, intellectual and national contributions continue to hold great significance.

Various ceremonies, seminars and special programmes will be organised across the country to pay tribute to his legacy.

Meanwhile, hospital emergency services will continue operating as usual during the public holiday.
