Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers to remain prepared for the next phase of their political struggle, saying their “T20 match” would begin on October 8.
Speaking to party workers in Kohat, he said the struggle would be prolonged and advised supporters not to exhaust themselves.
Afridi reiterated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belonged to PTI founder Imran Khan and would continue to remain with the party.
Addressing participants of a long march at Jail Chowk in Karak, the chief minister accused the authorities of pursuing policies that were creating divisions in the country. He alleged that the wave of terrorism affecting the province was the result of a deliberate strategy, saying the violence had led to loss of life, displacement and damage to businesses.
Afridi claimed that those “imposed” on the country were attempting to sow divisions among the people, adding that the situation had now moved beyond their control. He said the KP government had faced pressure to support policies it considered harmful to the province.
“I am a player of the PTI founder, and I have said ‘absolutely not’,” he remarked.
Earlier, while addressing PTI workers in Lakki Marwat, Afridi rejected any policy formulated behind closed doors if it did not serve the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also criticised the federal government’s approach to counterterrorism, claiming that it had failed to curb militancy and had instead contributed to its escalation.
