ISLAMABAD – The federal government revised petroleum prices, increasing the rate of petrol by 88 paisa per litre while reducing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.88 per litre, with the new rates taking effect from October 6, 2026.
Under the latest adjustment, petrol will now be available at Rs393.64 per litre, up from Rs392.76, while HSD has been reduced from Rs399.64 to Rs397.76 per litre.

The latest move comes after a period of frequent changes in domestic fuel prices, with the government adjusting rates in response to developments in international petroleum markets.
The latest increase takes petrol above the Rs393-per-litre mark after the price had already climbed sharply during the first days of October. Petrol was priced at Rs387.40 per litre on October 1 before rising to Rs390.66 on October 2. It was then increased by Rs2.10 per litre to Rs392.76 from October 3, where it remained unchanged through October 5.
The new price of Rs393.64 represents an increase of Rs6.24 per litre compared with the October 1 rate.

Unlike petrol, HSD has become cheaper under the latest notification. The price has been cut by Rs1.88 per litre, bringing it down to Rs397.76 from Rs399.64. The reduction provides some relief to consumers and sectors that rely heavily on diesel, including commercial transport, logistics and agriculture. The impact, however, will depend on how much of the reduction is reflected in transportation and other operating costs.
