Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States of failing to honour its commitments under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), claiming Tehran achieved outcomes in the negotiations that exceeded initial expectations.
Speaking at a ceremony marking National Industry and Mining Day, he said the negotiations progressed gradually, with Iran’s primary objective being the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports, along with resolving other key issues.
However, Pezeshkian alleged that the US failed to uphold its side of the agreement. He said the Islamic Republic secured significant gains during the talks, describing the results as surpassing expectations and stating that Iran had managed several complex issues effectively within a short period.
The Iranian president also revealed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had privately emphasised the importance of ending the country’s prolonged state of “neither war nor peace,” underscoring the need to move beyond the current period of uncertainty.
