ISLAMABAD – Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has taken groundbreaking step that promises to completely transform how financial assistance reaches low-income families.
For first time, BISP launched a modern, fully transparent payment system called ‘Social Protection Wallets’, alongside a nationwide distribution of free SIM cards for registered women beneficiaries.
The announcement was made by BISP Chairperson, Senator Rubina Khalid, in a video message, who termed the system a measure to “save the country’s poor women from fraud and difficulties” by ensuring that aid reaches their Social Protection Wallets directly and transparently.
SIM Cards without Payment
Senator Rubina Khalid explained the procedure for women to activate their wallets:

Registered women should visit their nearest BISP office or designated camp with their original CNIC and mobile phone.

After biometric verification, they will receive a completely free SIM card.

SIM card will be used to activate their Social Protection Wallet.
She warned clearly “Women should not pay anyone a single rupee. SIM is completely free! The Social Protection Wallet will only be created by BISP, so avoid any unauthorized persons or organizations.”
All Payments through Social Protection Wallets
BISP Chairperson announced major change in the payment system as all future payments will be transferred exclusively through the new Social Protection Wallets. In addition, all messages related to payments will also be sent to the new SIM cards.
This historic initiative is set to bring a significant revolution to BISP, enhancing transparency while giving women their first-ever dedicated financial wallet to receive assistance securely and directly.
