ISLAMABAD – Denmark has once again been ranked as the world’s most law-abiding country while Pakistan has retained its 130th position in the 2025 Rule of Law Index issued by the World Justice Project (WJP).
The international media reported that the 2025 index reveals a decline in the rule of law across most countries, with 68 percent showing deterioration compared to last year.
Denmark maintained its position at the top, followed by Norway, Finland and Sweden.
The United States dropped to 27th place while China slightly improved to 92nd. India ranked 79th while Pakistan remained unchanged at 130th.
At the bottom of the index, Venezuela ranked 143rd and Afghanistan 142nd while Russia and Sudan also recorded a significant decline.
The report noted that the weakening of checks on government powers and rising authoritarian trends pose a growing threat to the rule of law worldwide.
