Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa who is also Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in a landmark decision has directed development of land for the Muslims’ graveyard in Sector H-11 and the Christians’ graveyard in Sector H-8/1.
He gave these instructions while chairing a meeting here Wednesday held to review the policy for open spaces in Islamabad, the condition of graveyards in the city, and the Islamabad Beautification Plan.
The meeting was attended by the relevant senior officers and heads of various directorates.
The Chairman added that no charges will be collected for burials in Islamabad’s public graveyard.
He also directed that burial-related services provided in the city be further improved.
It was also decided in the meeting to automate the procedure for allocating open spaces in Islamabad. Chairman Randhawa instructed that a plan should be presented for the allocation of open spaces according to categories.
He directed improvements in fee collection system for open spaces by adopting modern technology.
He also instructed that a comprehensive system for open space allocation should be developed by the Law, BCS, and DMA departments.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that action should be taken against the permanent installation of structures in allocated open spaces. Additionally, he directed action against companies.
