REAP oathtaking ceremony held Governor vows to prioritize issues faced by rice exporters

Sindh Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori has assured the rice export sector that their issues will be resolved on a priority basis. Speaking at the Charge Taking Ceremony for the newly elected office bearers of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), Tessori expressed his commitment to supporting the industry.

The event, held at REAP House, was attended by several prominent figures, including Muhammad ZubairMotiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), as well as consuls general from the UAE, Qatar, and  Sri Lanka. Governor Tessori congratulated REAP on achieving an impressive milestone of $3.9 billion in rice exports last fiscal year and expressed optimism that exports could reach $5 billion in the coming year with focused efforts.

He also assured that the sealed offices of REAP would soon be returned to the association. Mallik Faisal Jahangir, the newly elected Chairman of REAP, thanked the Governor and TDAP’s leadership for their continued support and highlighted the challenges the rice export sector currently faces. He stressed the importance of continued government assistance in helping exporters overcome these hurdles.

Abdul Rahim Janoo, Chairman of REAP’s ruling group, emphasized the importance of reopening the association’s offices to facilitate the establishment of a world-class research and development library to boost the sector’s growth. ZubairMotiwala, Chief Executive of TDAP, praised the efforts of REAP in reaching $3.9 billion in exports and reiterated TDAP’s commitment to addressing the challenges of the rice export industry.

He affirmed that TDAP would continue to coordinate with REAP to ensure the growth of Pakistan’s second-largest export sector. The ceremony concluded with a garlanding event, followed by the presentation of shields to Governor Sindh and TDAP’s Chief Executive by REAP leaders.
