DUBAI – The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) offers online services Dubai to nationals, GCC citizens and other expatriates for processing the driving license renewal applications in just five minutes.
Driving licences are renewable for 10 years for UAE and GCCC citizens and 5 years for residents. Renewal of driving licences is available online in most of the emirates.
To renew your driving licence, you must pay all your traffic fines. A fine of 10 AED per month will be levied on customers who delay renewal of the driving licence for more than one month.
Documents Required For all nationalities
Valid Emirates ID.
Eye test, valid for 2 years.
Medical fitness test if the customer’s profession is “driver” (the customer must pass a comprehensive medical test in one of the hospitals accredited by RTA).
For Emirati passport holders without a family book (Marsoom holders)
Original valid passport
Copy of the valid Marsoom.
For Emirati passport holders, sons of Emirati women
Copy of the valid passport
Copy of a letter from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs stating that the customer’s mother is Emirati.
Dubai Driving License Renewal Fee in September 2024
As per official RTA website, the driver license renewal fees for customers younger than 21 years old stands at 100AED in addition to 20 AED Knowledge and Innovation fees.
500 AED additional fees will be received when applicant requests the mobile truck service for the eye test and licence renewal.
The driver license renewal fee for customers 21 years and older stands at 300 AED in addition to 20 AED Knowledge and Innovation fees.
