LAHORE – Police have arrested the son of PTI founding member Dr Shahid Siddique, who was shot dead outside a mosque in Lahore last week, for allegedly plotting his father’s murder.
Reports said Dr. Shahid’s son, Qayyum, has been detained in the murder case, adding that he had allegedly hired shooters to kill his father.
It is also surfaced that Qayyum Shahid had also led his father’s funeral prayers.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that at the time of the murder, Dr. Shahid was accompanied by his son Qayyum and his brother Sajid.
As Dr. Shahid was about to sit his car after Friday prayers, the shooter approached and opened fire at him.
The shocking incident occurred in Lahore’s Valencia Town where Dr. Shahid Siddique, PTI leader and private hospital owner, was murdered outside a mosque after Friday prayers.
Dr Shahid was gunned down by an unidentified attacker who sprayed multiple bullets at him. Lahore Police started investigating the motive behind the murder, and initial probe shows that it could be a targeted killing.

The killing of Dr Shahid Siddique sent shockwaves across the medical fraternity as further proceedings are underway.
After the incident Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the killing and called for immediate action to apprehend those responsible and has requested a comprehensive report from the DIG Operations on the incident.
