Minister Sharjeel, Chinese CG discuss CPEC and joint projects

Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong met with Sindh’s Senior Minister SharjeelInamMemon. The discussions centered around the exemplary Pakistan-China friendship, bilateral relations, mutual interests, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

The meeting involved a comprehensive exchange on the recent visit of the Prime Minister to China and ongoing joint projects between the Sindh government and China. Specific discussions were held on the Karachi Circular Railway and other transport initiatives, underscoring their importance to the region’s infrastructure development. Consul General Yang Yundong briefed Minister Memon on the new measures undertaken by the Chinese government, highlighting the significant role Sindh plays in CPEC.

The Chinese Consul General praised the Sindh government’s efforts in implementing mass transit projects, considering them commendable steps towards urban development. Minister Memon invited the Chinese government and businessmen to invest in Sindh, particularly in setting up manufacturing plants, ensuring full cooperation and protection of their interests.

The Sindh government expressed a keen interest in initiating joint projects with Chinese cooperation, aimed at mutual benefits for both countries. Minister Memon assured that all necessary support would be provided to Chinese investors, emphasizing the importance of Chinese manufacturing plants in Sindh for the bilateral interests of China and Pakistan. Highlighting the significance of the Karachi Circular Railway, Memon encouraged Chinese investment in the transport sector, recognizing it as a critical area for growth. The minister acknowledged the pivotal role of former President Asif Ali Zardari in the inception of CPEC, noting his continued focus on the Karachi Circular Railway project. Ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals remains a top priority, reiterated Minister Memon.

As a gesture of goodwill, Minister Memon presented the Chinese Consul General with the traditional Sindhi Ajrak and cap. The meeting underscores the strong commitment of both governments to enhance cooperation, particularly in the areas of transport and infrastructure, fostering deeper economic ties between China and Pakistan.
