ISLAMABAD – United States has put sanctions against four entities for their alleged involvement in supplying materials and equipment to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, and now Foreign Office responded to the development.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch rubbished the notion of exercising double standards in non-proliferation controls, saying it is a reality that the same jurisdictions waived off licensing requirements for advanced military technologies for some countries.
MoFA emphasized that such actions contribute to an arms buildup, increase regional disparities, and undermine global peace and security goals.
Baloch said the government is not aware of the specifics of the latest development, but there have been many instances in the past where listings have been made on mere suspicion.
The spokeswoman further mentioned that Asian nation has repeatedly pointed out that such items have legitimate commercial uses and therefore it is important to avoid arbitrary application of export controls.
