Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled a substantial reduction in airfares tailored for Umrah pilgrims, offering a timely boost for travelers embarking on the sacred journey. From April 7 to 11, the national flag carrier is implementing a noteworthy 30 percent decrease in airfares for destinations including Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Dammam.
Additionally, passengers undertaking the revered pilgrimage will enjoy a generous reduction of up to 20 percent in fares. Economy class fares have also been scaled down to Rs 50,000, presenting a more accessible option for travelers.
This announcement comes on the heels of PIA’s recent milestone achievement, as the airline has successfully cleared all liabilities, debts, and arrears.
The coplete financial overhaul has positioned PIA favorably for privatization, with its balance sheet now streamlined and all financial burdens shifted to a withholding company. The clearance of PIA’s balance sheet has been officially communicated to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, signaling a significant turnaround for the national carrier.
With these recent developments, PIA has emerged as an appealing investment opportunity within the aviation sector. The airline boasts a robust network, operating 170 weekly flight routes across 20 countries. Notably, PIA facilitates travel for approximately 150,000 passengers to Saudi Arabia each year, further solidifying its pivotal role in the aviation landscape.
