US Launches ‘Iron Gate’ Task Force to Tighten Restrictions on Iran

Iran Says Us Options Limited Warns Over Naval Blockade

The US military has established a new task force, dubbed “Iron Gate”, to restrict Iran’s movement of advanced weapons, sanctioned goods and other materials through its land borders and the Caspian Sea.

US Central Command (Centcom) announced Saturday that the unit, comprising 20 civilian and military personnel, will operate from Tampa, Florida, and coordinate with other US government agencies.

Centcom Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said the initiative would limit Iran’s ability to finance militant groups, rebuild weapons factories and replenish military supplies. Centcom also claimed that the US naval blockade had prevented Iran from exporting more than $25 billion in crude oil.

The move follows Washington’s broader economic pressure campaign against Tehran, including “Operation Economic Outcast”, announced in August to target five sectors: digital assets, gold, technology, aviation and shipping.
