The Karachi Police Chief has revealed a grim statistic: at least 31 individuals lost their lives, with over 80 others injured, in the first two months of the year due to a surge in street crimes. The alarming revelation follows a series of tragic incidents, including a robbery at a vegetable market near Malir Halt, where three traders were targeted. The traders, who had ventured to the market in the early hours, fell victim to robbers who opened fire, leaving them injured and robbed of their possessions.

Shockingly, the injured traders recounted to the police that the perpetrators had struck before in the same location, underscoring the brazenness of the criminals. Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of chaos as the injured sought refuge at a nearby petrol station, desperate to escape the hail of bullets. The resurgence of street crimes and robberies in the city has sent shockwaves through the community, with thousands falling victim to such incidents and suffering losses of valuables.

In light of these troubling developments, Karachi residents are urging authorities to launch a robust operation against street criminals and to crack down on the circulation of illegal weapons, hoping to restore safety and security to their neighborhoods.
