Inspector General of Sindh Police conducted tours of key election venues, including polling stations, election control rooms, and educational institutions, to oversee security preparations ahead of the upcoming elections. During these visits, Raffat Mukhtar Raja, the Inspector General, met with police personnel assigned to election duties and emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of voters, candidates, and election materials.

Highlighting the significance of experienced and capable individuals in ensuring a smooth electoral process, the Inspector General stressed the need for robust security measures to be free from any shortcomings or inadequacies.

With the final round of elections approaching on February 8, all necessary police deployments and distribution of election materials have been completed to ensure a secure environment for the electoral process. The Inspector General underscored the importance of following the contingency plan for election security and instructed all SSPs (Senior Superintendents of Police) to ensure the availability of accommodation and logistical arrangements for deployed personnel. Additionally, strict adherence to duty points for police deployment is mandated to maintain a constant presence and vigilance. In light of recent security threats, particularly the incidents in Quetta and Pishin, the Inspector General issued directives for heightened alertness among all district police officers and emphasized strengthening coordination with intelligence agencies.

Regular briefings and increased police patrols, including random checks, are being implemented to safeguard polling stations and surrounding areas. Special attention is being given to sensitive polling stations, with an increase in intelligence gathering and advanced security measures. Moreover, security arrangements have been intensified for mosques, imambargahs, minority religious sites, residential areas, government buildings, and other vulnerable locations.

Any suspicious activities or individuals, including unauthorized vehicles or packages, are promptly reported to the bomb disposal squad for thorough inspection and clearance. The focus remains on ensuring a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
