ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to postpone the intra-party elections just a day after announcement, the sources privy to the development said on Friday.

The sources said that the party leadership contacted the Chief Organizer and requested to postpone the intra-party elections.

The party members also requested to delay the intra-party elections due to their engagement in the general elections.

A new schedule for intra-party elections would be issued by PTI after the general elections scheduled for February 8.

The PTI had earlier announced to hold intra-party elections again on February 5.

PTI Federal Election Commissioner Rauf Hassan had issued a formal schedule for intra-party elections.

A day before the announcement of the intra-party elections, PTI’s central body had approved Chief Election Commissioner Rauf Hassan and members of the Election Commission for intra-party elections. Under the party constitution, an agreement for intra-party elections within 15 days was also approved.
