Leader of the House, Senate of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Senator Kamran Murtaza held a meeting with Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO) Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva
. Director General Okonjo-Iweala appreciated the positive contributions of Pakistan at WTO fora through fact-based and logical stances. She apprised of the challenges faced by WTO in accomplishing its work and reiterated her desire for Pakistan to benefit from the international instruments available under the WTO umbrella.
Senator Ishaq Dar highlighted the need for a concerted effort by the international community to develop a consensus on the environmental and sustainable development standards pertaining to the trade.
