Weekly e-court initiated to resolve issues faced by overseas Pakistanis: Dr. Shahid

Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Dr. Shahid Mahmood said that weekly e-court has been initiated in OPC Punjab for immediate solution of problems of overseas Pakistanis. He said that the main objective of the weekly e-court was to make it possible for expats to solve their problems on the spot by contacting them online.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazar have special interest in solving the problems of overseas Pakistanis and that is why every possible step is being taken for providing services and facilities to the overseas Pakistanis.

These views were expressed by Dr. Shahid Mehmood while presiding over a meeting on weekly performance held at OPC Punjab here on Friday.

Earlier, Commissioner OPC Syed Khadim Abbas while briefing the meeting said that on the direction of Vice Chairperson OPC Dr. Shahid Mehmood, 1182 complaints of overseas Pakistanis have been resolved in the last six weeks, while the target was set for redressal of 2000 complaints by May 1.

Later, Vice Chairperson OPC Dr. Shahid Mehmood launched e-court with Pakistanis resided in Saudi Arabia as per schedule. Initially, 10 Pakistanis participated in the e-court with their complaint numbers. Most of their problems were related to the department of revenue, police and Qabza mafia.

The vice chairperson issued on the spot orders to resolve the problems according to the complaint number. He further said that solution of problems of Pakistanis residing in different countries through weekly e-court is a priority.

He directed the officers to highlight the performance related activities of OPC Punjab on social media more effectively so that the overseas Pakistanis may feel that there is an institution to solve their problems. Overseas Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia and other countries have expressed their pleasant surprise at the convening of the e-court and called it a welcome step by OPC Punjab.
