With reference to a news item titled “FIA ‘irks’ over PTA delaying tactics to ban 1600 crypto websites” published recently, it is clarified that the news item did not present the facts as they are.
The assertion that “The FIA gave multiple reminders to […] PTA but the authority did not answer any of the reminders” is incorrect. In fact PTA has written to FIA requesting the legal provisions under which such websites can be blocked. The response was awaited and action will be taken once clarification from FIA is received. Furthermore, the matter is already in process and will be dealt in accordance with the law. It is regretted that the article did not include comments from PTA which could have made it accurate and balanced.—PR
