In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, former IIOJK Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has said, fol-lowing the All-Party meeting, the ball is now in the Indian court and it is up to Delhi to follow up with substantial confidence building measures and pro-vide relief to the people.

Mehbooba in an interview today said there were many leaders who insisted on restoration of the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir during the meet-ing with Indian Prime Minister Modi on June 24 but that doesn’t mean Article 370 was off the table.

She said she clearly conveyed in the meeting that Articles 370 and 35 A not only “secured our jobs and land but more importantly safeguarded our unique identity.”

“It took them (BJP) 70 years to scrap it and so it may take us 70 months or more to restore it. Having said that, we will use all constitutional, democratic, and peaceful means to get it back. There’s no com-promise on that,” she added.—KMS
