Chairman Pakistan Dairy AssociationAli Khan along with other members of PDA met Ministers for Finance and Commerce and other member from FBR to discuss the taxation issues on dairy sector.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin committed the dairy sector to remove sales tax anomalies from Finance Budget 2021-2022 and reinstate the previous sales tax of 10% on value added dairy products.
The minister also promised to support the UHT liquid milk segment which is vital for nutrition among children and to make dairy products safe as well as affordable for the people of Pakistan.
“Pakistan Dairy Association will work closely with Prime Minister’s program to promote safe, healthy and nutritional dairy products, fight against stunting and malnutrition, improve the livelihood of farmers and provide safe milk to build safe nation,” said Chairman PDA Ali Khan”
The minister asked FBR to work closely with PDA team and develop a program to provide safe and nutritional affordable products.
With the intent of sustainable development of dairy in Pakistan, Dairy Industry proposes a three-year program of consistent policies in taxation regime, which will allow the industry to reinvest major part of the incentive for the growth of dairy sector and increase the awareness of safe milk among people of Pakistan.
