Pakistani participants of the FAMTRIP 2019—Wonderful Indonesia— concluded their 10-day long visit on Wednesday in Bali the scenic and the most-visited island of Indonesia.
Bali, an island with over 80pc Hindu population is famous for its lush green forests, hundreds of temples, its lakes, beaches and above all its tourists’ friendly people.
An island of 4.7 million population, it claims an equal number of tourists every year from across the world. The fact that tourists visiting this island belong to all parts of the world has made Bali all the more diverse and a haven of peace and interfaith harmony.
On the last day of their visit, Tourism Ministry of Indonesia (now Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy under the new government) and the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad—the co-organizers of the FAMTRIP 2019—hosted a reception for the participants in order to bid them farewell and to get their feedback of visits to various places of Indonesia.
Director of Tourism, Marketing for South & Central Asia, ME, Africa Dr R Sigit Witjaksono had arrived especially from Jakarta to attend the farewell dinner for the Pakistani guests.
Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan Iwan Suyudhie Amri who has played a key role in making this programme a success was also present on the occasion along with his kind wife.
Dr Sigit highlighted various initiatives the government of Indonesia has taken to promote Indonesian tourism and culture in the world and to introduce them to those parts where people don’t know a great about Indonesia and its tourism destinations.
“Labuan Bajo, for instance, the gateway to Komdo Dragon Island and many other attractions has been declared a priority for the next five years by President Jokowi Widodo,” said Dr Sigit. We shall tourism-friendly infrastructure there to attract and facilitate increasing number of tourists, he said. The government has set a target of 20 million tourists in 2019 and hopefully with cooperation of the partners we shall achieve this target, said Dr Sigit.
