ISLAMABAD – Petrol consumers in Pakistan are facing another price shock as the government increased petrol by Rs2.02 per litre, while offering some relief to diesel users with a Rs3.59 per litre cut in High-Speed Diesel (HSD).
Petrol will now cost Rs391.30 per litre, up from the previous rate. The government, however, has moved in the opposite direction for diesel, reducing the price of High-Speed Diesel by Rs3.59, bringing it down to Rs408.53 per litre. The revised prices will remain effective from September 26 to September 28.
The contrasting adjustment means petrol-powered motorists will have to pay more, while transporters and other consumers dependent on diesel will see some relief. The latest move comes amid continued volatility in global petroleum markets and changing international oil prices, which feed into Pakistan’s domestic fuel-pricing mechanism.
