I may kindly be allowed to use the precious space of your esteemed columns to share my views with your worthy readers about a subject of concern for all. I have tried to address the subject academically in the following lines. We are living in a society where “corporate democracy and chronic capitalism” have joined together.
The system of dispensation of justice has become a trade with miseries of the people to a certain level. It is ironic that a Senate’s Deputy Head prefers to support “Under and over invoicing” as requisite in trade transactions and treat it “good business practice” to earn profit.
Our elite, who shift their capital to do business abroad, obviously cannot bring foreign investment in the country. Point scoring and blame game is the order of the day. The nation has almost lost moral authority and is unable to distinguish between good and bad. We are passing through a state of ‘confusion’ which is alarming.
Who are beneficiaries of such turmoil should be understood in depth. Our institutions need overhaul and mere capacity building is not enough. Change is not possible overnight. Even ‘revolutions’ could not bring change in social attitudes within the twinkling of an eye whereas ‘evolution’ is a time consuming process. However intentions coupled with actions are essential to reach the destiny of ‘change’. Here the question arises again of ‘capacity’ to challenge ‘status quo’.
The State has to address the question of the identity of linguistic and cultural entities on national and provincial levels. Constitutional guarantees and practical steps are required to achieve this objective. The steps to be taken for this purpose are time-bound. If a set of solutions to be introduced at a particular point of time will succeed to achieve positive results.
The similar solution may not produce required results if applied at a later stage. We should be conscious of the time limit for each set of remedies that we intend to adopt. Common faith, lingua-franca, Constitution, especially Objective Resolution and intents of the pioneers, Quaid’s vision and the legacy of founding fathers can be the sources to resolve our national issues objectively.
