Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz on Saturday said a case will be registered against the leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement and all those who would facilitate them in making arrangements for the public meeting in Lahore.
Talking to a news channel, Senator Shibli Faraz said that an FIR will be lodged against those leaders who will sit on the stage and all their facilitators after the Lahore rally.
He maintained that after lodging an FIR, the government will initiate legal proceedings against the violators of the law.
It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab’s Parks and Horticulture Authority had approached Lahore police for registering a case against Pakistan Muslim League-N activists for breaking locks of Minar-e-Pakistan ahead of Pakistan Democratic Movement public gathering on December 13.
A request submitted with the police had said that the PML-N activists forcefully entered the Minar-e-Pakistan through gate 5 after breaking the locks.
“They carried the vehicle laden with equipment needed to prepare the stage,” the application had read besides also blaming the activists for torturing and threatening the PHA staffers.
Meanwhile, Shibli Faraz, in a tweet, said on Saturday the government was taking effective steps to deal with the intensifying second wave of Covid-19 and appealed to the people to avoid public gatherings or activities that put their health and lives in danger.
He said public health and protection of people’s lives is the foremost priority of government. “The second wave of corona[virus] has intensified. We are taking effective measures to deal with it,” the minister added.
Shibli Faraz appealed to the people to strictly adhere to the precautionary steps and the standard operating procedures against the pandemic and avoid participating in public gatherings or activities that could put their health and lives in danger.
On the other hand, he said, some opposition parliamentarians, who were being compelled by non-elected persons like Maryam Safdar to tender resignations, were in contact with the government.
The minister said at present the country was facing two epidemics – one was the second wave of coronavirus and the other was the PDM.
Shibli Faraz said some parties in the ‘unnatural alliance’ were looking for a way out, as they realised that PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman with his so-called ‘religious cloak’ had led them to a blind alley. The government could help them to come out of the “quagmire”, but without giving any NRO to escape from the accountability process for their corruption, he added.
