Srinagar
In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has expressed grave concern over the Indian government’s nefarious plan to promote Devanagari script, written from left to right.
A Tehreek-e-Wahdat spokesman in a statement issued from Srinagar said that the fascist Indian government of Bhartia Janata Party was plotting to rob the Kashmiri Muslims of their identity, culture and language. He said, the BJP is very much in conflict with Urdu and Kashmiri which are written in Nasta’liq script. The BJP, he added, wants to attack the Kashmiri language by introducing Devanagari script in disputed Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesman further said that the BJP government had also attacked Urdu, the only official language of Kashmir, and in order to reduce its status and importance, it had approved the status of Hindi and three other languages as official languages.—KMS
