The Accountability Court (AC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Salman Shehbaz in a money laundering reference.
Judge Jawadul Hassan of Accountability Court (AC) took up the case of money laundering and accumulation of assets beyond known source of income against Shahbaz Sharif and his family members for hearing Thursday. The court directed DG NAB to implement arrest warrants of the accused and submit report thereof The court summoned Nusrat Shahbaz, Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali on September 10. The court inquired what is matter of Nusrat Shahbaz. Was arrest warrant issued?
NAB prosecutor told arrest warrants of wife of Shahbaz Sharif have not been issued. However Nusrat Shahbaz was not given any property from parents while transaction was carried out in her accounts. Shahbaz Sharif assets also increased after he became Chief Minister (CM).
Shahbaz Sharif told the court in his statement that he saved millions of rupees during his tenure and he never caused loss to national kitty. “I fetched investment of millions of rupees rather. I swear I never caused loss to national exchequer. NAB kept me under physical remand for 56 days in other cases. NAB could prove nothing against me in Saaf Pani, Ashiana and other case. Baseless allegations were leveled against me. I did not commit corruption even of a single pie”, he said before the court.
The judge remarked allegations will be reviewed as per law. You will be acquitted with honor if you are proved innocent.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till September 10.
Earlier police stopped PML-N workers from entering into AC on the occasion of appearance of Shahbaz Sharif in the court. Bitter remarks were also exchanged between the police and workers. The roads were closed for general traffic from MAO college to Civil Secretariat chowk.
Talking to media men outside the court Shahbaz Sharif said government is politicking on Nawaz Sharif health. Government had allowed Nawaz Sharif to go abroad. All political parties will participate in All Parties Conference (APC). The prices of essential commodities have soared.
Non-bailable warrants have been issued for the arrest of Salman Shehbaz, the son of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, in a money laundering case.
An accountability court issued the warrants for him on Thursday. It was hearing a case against Shehbaz’s entire family for money laundering and owning assets beyond their known sources of income.
It has summoned Nusrat Shehbaz (Shehbaz’s wife) and his daughters Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali in the case. They are all out of the country but NAB has not issued warrants for their arrest. It has said it has lots of evidence against them.
It has named another 16 suspects in the case. The people who have already been arrested were presented in court on Thursday, including Shehbaz’s son Hamza Shehbaz. Shehbaz, who is on bail, also appeared.
Shehbaz took the rostrum and said NAB hasn’t been able to find anything against his family.
The judge said if there is anything wrong with the case, he will be acquitted, after which Shehbaz expressed his confidence in the courts.
The warrant for Salman (also known as Suleman) was issued for September 10 and is non-bailable. Bailable warrants were issued for Ali Ahmed and Tahir Naqvi.
