“Writing for children is no child’s play, andthat’s why many leading fiction writers refuse to write for children.”These thoughts were expressed by Shehzad Qamar, Director, AtaleeqFoundation Pakistan, while addressing a Children’s Writing Workshoporganized by the Sathee Guidance Forum.Shehzad Qamar further stated that instead of being intimidated bydigital media outlets, they be used effectively to cater to the targetedaudience, since there is an acute dearth of quality fiction writers.Fasihullah Hussaini, the editor of the preschool children’s Urdumagazine “JigmagTaarey,” said it is essential that the element ofinterest never fades while writing for children.Abdul Rahman Momin, Urdu poet and former editor of Mahnama Sathee, talked in detail about different literary genres in Urdu.
