LAHORE – The martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) – Youm-e-Ali – is observed with religious fervour in Rajab month of every Islamic year.
Mourning processions are taken out on prescribed routes in different parts of the country, including Karachi and Lahore, to pay tribute to Hazrat Ali.
As the Rajab moon has sighted, the holy month will see two key events – Shab e Meraj and Youm-e-Ali.
Youm-e-Ali Date in Pakistan
The Youm-e-Ali will be observed across Pakistan on January 3. All departments related to security have started preparations for security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
Last year, a comprehensive security plan had been implemented by Lahore Police for the peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ali. Over 7,000 police officers and personnel had performed duty to ensure security at mosques, imambargahs, shrines and other key places.
Shab-e-Meraj Date in Pakistan
The holy event is observed on 27th night of Islamic month of Rajab. The night recalls the mystical journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who traveled from the Kaaba to Masjid al-Aqsa where he led prayers. The Messenger then ascended to the heavens on the heavenly animal named ‘al-Buraq’ where he met Almighty and received instructions.
Every year, followers remember the blessed night with great significance as many offer special prayers, reciting the Quran, while others observe fasting.
As per the announcement, the night of Meraj or Shab-e-Meraj will be observed on the 27th of Rajab, which will fall on January 16, 2026, in Pakistan.
