KARACHI – Pakistan could finally get relief in Petrol prices amid sharp decline in global oil prices, which sparks hopes of upto Rs5 per litre cut in domestic fuel costs.
As of January 12, global petrol prices tumbled by $2.74 per barrel, sliding from $69.27 to $66.54, while the petrol premium has also eased, falling 13 cents to $5.01 per barrel.

Petrol Price Update
In light of global changes, petrol prices are likely to come down by Rs4-5 per litre in second half of January 2026, while diesel price could also be slashed by Rs2-3 per litre.
Customs duty on petrol has been slashed by 72 paisas per litre, and exchange rate adjustments have fallen by 68 paisas per litre, combining to push the ex-refinery price down by Rs6.51 per litre, from Rs145.57 to Rs139.06.
Diesel isn’t being left behind. Its global price dropped $2.33 per barrel, from $76.32 to $73.99. Locally, customs duty on diesel has been reduced by 80 paisas per litre, and exchange adjustments fell by 35 paisas per litre, resulting in a Rs5.33 per litre reduction in the ex-refinery price, bringing it from Rs155.33 to Rs149.99.
With global oil markets clearly trending downward, economists and consumers alike are buzzing with anticipation that Pakistan could soon announce a major cut in fuel prices.
