ISLAMABAD – Petrol prices in Pakistan are likely to drop in upcoming fortnightly review for December 2025 amid declining global rates due to oversupply concerns.
Reports said the relevant departments have prepared preliminary calculations regarding the price cuts.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will send a price summary for approval on December 15. Once the Prime Minister approves the changes, the Petroleum Division will issue an official notification regarding the new prices.
Reports said petrol price is likely to decrease by 36 paisas per liter, while diesel could drop by Rs 11.85 per liter. Other products, including kerosene and light diesel, are also expected to see reductions of Rs 11.70 and Rs 10.01 per liter, respectively.
Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan
Currently, the petrol price in Pakistan will stands at Rs263.45 per litre while high speed diesel is being sold for Rs279.65.
The prices of kerosene oil and light speed diesel oil stand at Rs176.81 and 159.76, respectively.
Expected Petrol Prices in Pakistan
If the reported dip in petroleum prices is approved, the new petrol price in Pakistan would be Rs263.09 per litre after a drop of 36 paisas.
Similarly, the price of high speed diesel is expected to drop to Rs267.8 while the light speed diesel to Rs149.75. The price of kerosene oil is expected to drop to Rs165.11.
Taxes on Petrol, Diesel in Pakistan
Additionally, a report has revealed details about the taxes levied on petrol and diesel. For every liter of petrol, 37% of the price is tax, amounting to Rs 96.28. Similarly, 34% of the price of diesel is tax, which equals Rs 94.92 per liter. These taxes include customs duties, petroleum levies, and climate-related levies.
