Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) CEO, Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, recently hosted a World Bank delegation at the MD Secretariat in Karsaz. The delegation, led by practice managers Josses Mugabi, Farhan Sami, and Taziania Smith, engaged in an in-depth discussion with KWSC officials about the ongoing and future phases of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP).

The meeting included participation from senior officials such as PD KWSSIP Usman Muazzam, Syed Imran Iqbal Zaidi, Syed Sardar Shah, Zunira Jalil, Shakeel Qureshi, and Aftab Alam Chandio. Discussions centered on the progress of KWSSIP-I, preparations for KWSSIP-II, reforms within the corporation, and the development of a master plan aimed at addressing Karachi’s water and sewerage challenges. During the briefing, CEO Ahmed outlined KW&SC’s strategies for delivering improved services, highlighting recent initiatives and reforms spearheaded by the new management.

He presented a comprehensive roadmap detailing the corporation’s vision for institutional reform, enhanced service delivery, revenue growth, and private sector collaboration, all while emphasizing KW&SC’s commitment to its partnership with the World Bank.

The World Bank delegation expressed their appreciation for the transformative steps taken by the KW&SC leadership, praising its strategic approach and multi-sectoral roadmap for sustainable development.

They commended the corporation’s short, medium, and long-term plans, acknowledging the tangible improvements in the city’s water and sewerage services. Observers have pointed out that the conversion of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board into a corporation has sparked renewed confidence in the institution’s leadership.

This shift has attracted the attention of international financial bodies and foreign envoys, who have recognized the positive reforms and development efforts taking place within the KW&SC. The World Bank delegation assured CEO Ahmed of their continued support, expressing confidence in the ongoing projects aimed at improving service delivery across Karachi.
