ISLAMABAD – Senator Faisal Vawda on Saturday demanded the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alleging that the country’s affairs were being managed “like a family corporation” and raising allegations involving one of Dar’s relatives.
Senator Faisal Vawda claimed that a person he described as Dar’s “alleged grandson” had been accused in a case involving foreign women. He alleged that the suspect was facing accusations of rape, assault and extortion, and claimed the arrest was made following the intervention of the relevant foreign embassy.
The senator further alleged that efforts were being made to suppress the case. According to Vawda, attempts were underway to focus the investigation on extortion charges rather than rape, while he also claimed there were plans to repatriate the foreign complainants at the earliest opportunity.
Vawda also questioned the delay in the recording or disclosure of a statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, alleging that it should have become public by now. He further claimed that medical reports could be manipulated to favour influential individuals.
Criticising the country’s political leadership, Vawda said a small group of influential people had taken control of the state through what he termed “elite capture.” He alleged that those in power had not only caused financial damage to the country over the years but were now also compromising people’s dignity and rights.
The senator questioned why no political party, whether part of the government, opposition or coalition, had publicly condemned the alleged incident. He also criticised individuals and organisations that advocate for women’s rights, alleging they had remained silent over the matter.
However, according to the reports, no immediate response was issued by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar or his office regarding Vawda’s allegations. The claims made by the senator have not been independently verified, and no official investigation details were available at the time of filing this report.
