KARACHI – As Eidul Azha 2025 approaches, discussions around the rising prices of sacrificial animals are intensifying across Pakistan.
Markets are witnessing a surge in footfall, with many buyers are expressing concern over the high costs of cows, goats, and camels. T
raders attribute the price hike to increased transportation costs, animal feed expenses, and overall inflation. Despite the challenges, cattle markets in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad remain active, with animals arriving daily from rural areas.
In Karachi, it is the 36th day of the arrival of animals at the Northern Bypass Maweshi Dost Cattle Market.
Market Administrator Shahab Ali said the number of animals has reached 100,000 as buying spree has intensified.
He added that the Northern Bypass Market has a capacity of 350,000 to 400,000 animals. Bulls, cows, goats, sheep, and camels are available for purchase and sale in the market, and the number of buyers for cows, goats, camels, and dumba (rams) is increasing day by day.
Sacrificial Animal Prices in Karachi May 2025
The administrator said in the general blocks of the cattle market, a 1.5-mond (approx. 60 kg) animal is available for Rs160,000, while a 3.5-mound (approx. 140 kg) animal is available for Rs225,000.
He added that animals of different rates are available in the market, saying buyers are offering prices based on their capacity while traders are quoting prices according to their demands.
