LONDON – Pakistani actress Mahira Khan encountered a highly unpleasant situation during a promotional event for her upcoming film Lo Guru in London. The incident occurred when she, accompanied by co-star Humayun Saeed, visited an Indo-Pak supermarket in the Ilford area to meet fans and promote the film.
The event began smoothly, but the situation quickly spiraled out of control as the crowd grew in size. The security arrangements were reportedly inadequate which allowed a few unruly individuals to behave inappropriately.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Mahira Khan can be seen attempting to enter the store through the crowd when some people tried to touch her inappropriately.
The visibly distressed actress appeared deeply upset and shaken by the incident.
Mahira had planned to go to the rooftop of the store to wave to fans and engage with them from a safe distance but the overwhelming crowd pressure forced those plans to be abandoned. The videos are circulating online show Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed waving from the rooftop but the actress’s discomfort is apparent behind her composed demeanor.
As of now, neither Mahira Khan nor the event organizers have issued an official statement regarding the incident.
However, the fans have taken to social media to express strong condemnation of the harassment and show solidarity with the actress.
Love Guru, starring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 6. The actors are currently on an international promotional tour but the unfortunate incident has cast a shadow over what was intended to be a celebratory event.
