Amid fast rising number of Corona cases and alarming increase in the death toll from Covid-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , two more frontline workers, a senior most pediatrician of KP and a District Health Officer on Friday succumbed to the deadly pandemic in the line of duty.
A front-line warrior against the global pandemic Covid-19, pediatrician Prof Dr. Hakeem Shah died of the infection in Peshawar.
The paediatrician’s death was confirmed by the Provincial Doctors Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Hakeem Shah, a reputed child specialist was posted in the Peshawar Cantt General Hospital as a children’s disease specialist and had contracted the virus a few days back.
Likewise former District Health Officer Shangla and Buner Dr. Shah-e-Room also fell victim to the Corona virus on Friday. He was undergoing treatment in Saidu Sharif hospital, Swat, and was on ventilator in ICU.
With the death of two more doctors, as the Provincial Doctors Association confirmed, the number of doctors falling victim to Corona has risen to 55.
Moreover, owing to alarming increase in cases during the third wave of Covid-19, the provincial government Friday said all kinds of public transport both inter-provincial and intercity would remain suspended on Saturdays and Sundays till further order.
According to Transport department notification and the bus stands and addas shall remain closed during these days.
Besides, the government has issued instructions to ensure strict observance of the SOPs during the other five days.
